FemTouch Vaginal Rejuvenation – a revolutionary solution for women’s health

FemTouch is a non-invasive and non-hormonal treatment for improved vaginal health – restoring confidence and wellbeing. FemTouch is a laser that addresses vaginal health conditions by treating the vaginal mucous epithelium layer. A CO2 fractional laser is applied along the vaginal wall which results in very gentle, controlled ablation and coagulation of the vaginal lining.

The FemTouch gynecology laser solution was developed by Lumenis, the inventor of CO2 technology, combining a heritage of gynecology applications. FemTouch has been developed in collaboration with leading gynecologists in the field.

With aging, many women may develop issues related to vaginal health that can be a detriment to their lifestyle, confidence and wellbeing. Half of post-menopausal women have some level of stress-induced urinary incontinence, while three-quarters suffer from a degree of vaginal atrophy, such as vaginal dryness, lack of sensation, decreased sexual satisfaction, burning, itching, vaginal prolapse, or pain ranging from mild discomfort to intense suffering during intercourse. Changes in the vaginal wall flora and pH leave mini post menopausal women more prone to urinary tract infections. Additionally, vaginal laxity can be amplified after childbirth as well.

Benefits of the FemTouch procedure include resurfacing and thickening of the vaginal tissue, increased natural lubrication, enhanced sexual pleasure, increased elasticity, and a decrease in urinary incontinence – even a tightening of the vaginal walls.

Bring Your LIFE Back to Life

How Does The FemTouch Laser Work?

FemTouch applies laser energy directly to internal vaginal tissue in order to restore it back to a normal healthy functioning state. The FemTouch laser handpiece is inserted into the vagina to focus fractional CO2 laser beams along vaginal wall in 360° steps, ensuring the entirety of the vaginal wall is treated. The laser creates tiny controlled micro-injuries in order to promote the resurfacing of the vaginal mucous epithelium layer (vaginal lining) stimulating the regeneration of new vaginal tissue by triggering collagen production.

Improved Sexual Functioning

FemTouch vaginal rejuvenation treatments have been shown to improve sexual satisfaction in women. The FemTouch laser reverses vaginal dryness which in turn reduces uncomfortable or painful sexual intercourse. Rejuvenated vaginal tissue can also increase sexual pleasure and satisfaction for both the woman and her partner.

How Many FemTouch Treatments Will I Need?

Most patients will need 3 FemTouch treatment sessions (spaced about a month apart a week following the patient’s menstrual cycle) to realize their desired final results. If urinary incontinence is being treated, a fourth treatment will be needed. Treatments take only a few minutes to perform. Patients are then recommended to undergo a once-yearly maintenance treatment to upkeep their vaginal health.

Is There Downtime?

FemTouch procedures are safe, quick, virtually painless, and require no downtime. The procedure requires no downtime or recovery time and you can get right back to normal daily activities. You should refrain from intercourse for 24 hours following the procedure. There is no special aftercare required; however, you should avoid direct heat exposure, such as a hot shower or sauna, for 24 hours.

Is the Procedure Painful?

While a FemTouch procedure is not painful, some patients may experience minor pressure similar to a vaginal exam.

What Is Stress-Induced Urinary Incontinence?

According to the Mayo Clinic, stress-induced urinary incontinence is the unintentional loss of urine that typically coincides with physical movement or activity such as coughing, sneezing, running, or heavy lifting. These activities put pressure (stress) on your bladder which can cause it to leak.

An estimated 15 million adult women in the United States suffer from some degree of stress urinary incontinence. This roughly equates to 24% of women between the ages of 18 and 44 and 23% of women over the age of 60.

Stress-induced urinary incontinence can be very embarrassing, to the point where the quality of life for many sufferers is negatively affected. SUI can limit both physical and leisure activity and cause some women to socially isolate themselves.

What Causes Stress-Induced Urinary Incontinence?

While pregnancy and childbirth are the leading cause of stress-induced urinary incontinence, there are other contributing factors which can include:

  • loss of pelvic muscle tone
  • hysterectomy
  • nerve and muscle damage from birthing or surgical trauma
  • obesity
  • menopause
  • chronic coughing due to smoking and lung disease
  • anatomical predisposition
  • repeated heavy lifting or high impact sports
Do I Have Stress-Induced Urinary Incontinence?

Unfortunately, most women who suffer from some form of stress-induced urinary incontinence often fail to properly address it. In a survey, the National Association for Incontinence found that women wait an average of 6.5 years from the time they first experience the symptoms to be properly diagnosed and receive treatment. The key symptom of stress urinary incontinence is unwanted urine leakage of any amount, from a few drops to a tablespoon or more. Mild stress-induced urinary incontinence sufferers typically experience leaks during forceful physical activities while moderate to severe stress-induced urinary incontinence results in leaks from normal activities like standing or walking.

Important Questions About Stress-Induced Urinary Incontinence
If your answer to any of the following questions is “Yes” we recommend seeking treatment as there are many ways to manage stress-induced urinary incontinence:

  • Have you stopped exercising due to fear of a leakage?
  • Do you feel uncomfortable about your body?
  • Do you avoid sexual intercourse because you are worried you may leak?
  • Do you often carry a change of clothes around?
  • Are you afraid to leave the house and/or be too far from a bathroom?
  • Have you changed the way you live because you’re afraid of potential urine leakage?
FemTouch & Stress-Induced Urinary Incontinence

FemTouch is a non-ablative CO2 laser that is used to treat stress-induced urinary incontinence. The handpiece of the FemTouch laser is inserted into the vaginal canal and creates microscopic holes into the vaginal lining. This triggers the natural healing process to occur where the old tissue is replaced by new healthy tissue, healing from the inside out.

This new tissue provides a lining underneath the bladder so that the wall becomes thicker and more vascular. This will give the bladder the support it needs so that the bladder won’t leak. It also will tighten the tissue around the urethra and increase vascularity in that area to re-enforce the bladder not to leak while engaging in physical activity such as coughing, sneezing, running, jumping and heavy lifting.

In addition to addressing stress-induced urinary incontinence, FemTouch helps with other issues relating to vaginal health including vaginal atrophy and urinary tract infections.
